How to Apply
Scholarship applicants must complete an application available online at www.ncfmhc.org and www.newcollegeinstitute.org. Paper copies are also available at the offices of New College Foundation, New College Institute, area community colleges and high schools.
Only one application is necessary to be considered for all available scholarships. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the criteria for each fund.
Incomplete or unreadable applications will not be considered. Applications must be received by May 31, 2018. Submissions may be mailed or delivered to the Foundation office. Award recipients are notified within a month after the application deadline. For more information contact the New College Foundation at 276-403-4445 or 134 East Church St. Suite 225, Martinsville, VA 24112.
The application must include official copies of transcripts from the most recently attended college, two letters of recommendation from individuals other than relatives who are familiar with the applicant’s qualities and character and one community service verification form signed by the organization's representative.
Applications are evaluated by the New College Foundation Selection Committee on the basis of academic and work history, community service, career goals, and leadership attributes. In addition, other criteria may be set by scholarship donors for specific awards.
