New College Foundation News http://www.ncfmhc.org New College Foundation News Thu, 15 Jun 2017 05:17:59 EST HD CMS en daily 1 http://www.ncfmhc.org/news/details/ID/14 Food Truck Thursday http://www.ncfmhc.org/news/details/ID/14 Wed, 14 Jun 2017 12:00:00 EST Wednesday, 14 June 2017 12:00:00 EST Throughout the region, Food Truck events are becoming increasingly popular and events coordinator, Stacy Peters, wanted to bring that excitement to Martinsville as a way to help NCI promote its programs and activities.  Peters has scheduled several days throughout the summer for patrons to enjoy delicious food on the plaza during the hours of 11-2 p.m.  Area truck and merchandise vendors are on site serving barbeque, salads, fish, hot dogs, and desserts along with music and activities during lunch time in the parking lot of the New College Institute.  The events are are open to the public. http://www.ncfmhc.org/news/details/ID/13 Supporting Young Engineers http://www.ncfmhc.org/news/details/ID/13 Tue, 13 Jun 2017 12:00:00 EST Tuesday, 13 June 2017 12:00:00 EST        New College Foundation provided books for students participating in NCI's Engineering Camps for Girls and Boys.  Through funds allotted for community outreach, the books Hidden Figures Young Reader's Edition, by New York Times best-selling author, Margot Lee Shetterly and Steve Jobs, Insanely Great, by Jessie Hartland were selected as appropriate reading for the young campers.  The latter was on the list of Best STEM Books for Children by the National Science Teachers Association.  After an informative week of hands-on activities, it is hoped that students will continue their learning by reading about innovators in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology.
